Dhokla is a healthy & tasty dish made from chickpee flour and curd & Methi Dhoklas are rich in nutrients like iron and folic acid and is a great breakfast option for expecting mothers.You can treat your guests with this interesting variation of dhokla.

Ingredients(1cup=250ml)
• 1 cup black eyed beans(soaked,washed& dried)
• 1½ cup chopped fenugreek leaves(methi)
• 4 tbsp refined oil
• ½ tbsp ginger paste
• 1 tbsp green chilli
• 1 tbsp baking soda or fruit salt (Eno)
• Salt as required
• 2¾ cup water
• ¼ tsp asafoetida
How to make Methi Dhokla :
1)Wash and soak the black eyed beans (chawli) for at least six hours. Drain them when soaked.
2)Add water to the soaked beans and blend in a mixer to make a smooth batter.
3)In the bean batter, add chopped fenugreek leaves, oil, green chili and ginger paste, asafoetida along with salt and mix well.
4)Put the steamer on the gas and when the water in the steamer starts to boil, add baking soda/fruit salt into the batter and mix well.
5)Grease 2 thalis with oil and pour this batter in them. Put these thalis in the steamer and steam for about 8 to 10 minutes.[You can put it in microwave for 8-10 mins at 150°C but for that you have to put the batter in microwave safe plates]
6)After that, put the thalis off the steamer and cut dhokla pieces as desired. Serve hot with green chutney and red chutney.
